A little taster of Move and Nourish…

Hey Gorgeous People!

I just wanted to give you a quick sneak peak of what our amazing new site, www.moveandnourish.com has on offer to guide you to eat better, feel better, think better and move better… Today we have one of my favourites, my lovely functional yoga movement session perfect or everyone! The site is jam packed full of other lovely videos to get you feeling amazing!I hope you enjoy and please go and take a look around!

I hope you are all enjoying the first day of lent? Lent is usually about giving up something, a feeling of deprivation, a feeling like you are missing out, but I’d like to encourage you to add something in for the next 40 days that will make you feel amazing!

I’m adding in 1 hour a day (that’s only 4% of the day) of me time, that’s to either exercise, meditate, have a long hot bath or curl up with a good book or a mixture. I’ve been really busy lately with awesome, fun projects, which can sometimes stop us looking after ourselves, so let’s look at how to do more good for our minds and bodies!

In my classes this morning we were all discussing this and Anita is going to give herself the gift of a proper lunch break every single day, for the next 40 days! Jane and Anne are simply going to add in 6 repetitions of a Pilates exercise, a ‘roll-down’ where you simply become aware of the gentle opening of the back of the spine as you roll down, then re-build the vertebra back up. Simple!

What will you gift your beautiful self with this lent?

Loads of Love,

Aimie

I love BBQ…

Hello Food Fans!

If you are anything like me you will totally love summer and all of the delicious foods that come with it… sun ripened strawberries, fresh juices and salads, super sweet fruits and BBQ’s!! “Say what? BBQ? Aren’t you vegan?” I hear you cry, yes I am, but that doesn’t stop me totally enjoying delicious foods, I just have to be creative… So here are my best three easy BBQ meal ideas…

unnamed-6

This was my first and quickest BBQ inspired meal…

BBQ Raw Pepper Burgers and Sweet Fries

1. simply chopped sweet potatoes, slowly cooked in a little coconut oil.

2. cut an orange pepper into 3 slices and fill with sliced avocado and broccoli or alfalfa sprouts (found in any good health food shop)

3. Top off with a slice of tomato and a little organic mustard (I had to get mine from wholefoods as every other place had nasty preservatives or E numbers in – we can do better than that right?)

4. Add a little pink Himalayan Salt and black pepper and any extra sprouts (highly nutritious and definitely a food you want in your weekly food intake) And enjoy!

unnamed-9

Watermelon-aide

As it’s summer, we definitely need some beautiful hydrating food in our lives, so this amazingly quick watermelon juice is perfect! Simply chop the melon up and blend until smooth… that’s it! (A few posts down you should find a video on how to do this…)

BBQ Quinoa Wraps

This is a variation of my mongo wraps in my book, ‘Nourish with Aimie’ using nice big spring green leaves we get a fantastic base of alkalising greens, fibre and alkalising minerals with loads of taste…

1. Cook the quinoa for 15 minutes while prepping the rest of the food. After 15, take off the heat and allow to absorb remaining fluid and add in some BBQ spices, I used an organic BBQ mix I found in Las Vegas Wholefoods, but any sugar free mix will work

2. Wash your green and slice out the middle ‘vein’ that’s too tough to eat (can be juiced later) chop avocado and peppers, pick any herbs, I used micro herbs I’ve grown at home, coriander and cress, so easy and delicious!

3. Down one side of the ‘vein’ simply fill with quinoa, veggies and avo and some mustard (as before) then roll the filled side to the centre, fold in both ends and finish rolling to create your wrap and cut in half…That’s it! Enjoy!

In my next blog I will share with you my BBQ burgers and raw coleslaw! Yum! Happy Tuesday!xx

30 day yoga challenge

IMG_3808

As some of you will know I love yoga, I might not be the best at it and have been known to fall out of my headstands giggling, but it’s super fun to learn new things and we only fall down to pick ourselves back up. I started up again 3 years ago because I wanted to try something new and learn how to do cool tricks – I wanted a new challenge!

I had actually started doing yoga when I was 15 and I’d been begging my dad for a gym membership for my 16th birthday in my plan to become Angelina Jolie after watching gone in 60 seconds, I wanted to lose weight and be a bad ass! Up until that point I’d always quit everything I’d started, violin, guitar, basket ball, judo (1 lesson) so he set me a challenge, to lose 1 stone, then I could have a gym membership as my birthday present. I was 15, a size 18 and had no idea how to lose weight, I asked the doctor who said to go running…no chance! So I bought myself a yoga video (yes, video, it was 14 years ago) and I just started doing the 10 minute warm up every day, within a few weeks I’d changed, I looked taller, slimmer, I felt wonderful and I was well on my way to getting that gym membership!

That 10 minutes daily changed my life and I’d like to challenge you to see if just 10 minutes a day could change your life too!

I will post 3 little yoga video’s for you to try at home and see what happens if you just do one of these a day…

Coriander Wraps

Ok…I’m super excited to share my awesome coriander wraps with you guys… they are so good and make me feel super happy!

I’m going to attempt a coconut and basil, then an oregano pizza style next… what do you want to see next?raw lunch wrap

These wraps are great for those of us who loved sandwiches and wraps at lunch, but will leave you feeling energetic and bouncing around like tigger!

Just Start…

just start

This morning we had a very inspiring conversation in Bootcamp, talking about the feelings we feel on a consistent basis about our lives. Over the 10 years I’ve been privileged to spend training people it’s become quite apparent that people who feel they are progressing in their personal lives and are doing things that inspire them get better results… Our mood affects our hormones, which will then effect everything else… Cortisol is linked to abdominal fat, so therefore, if we do the things that make us happy, we change our states, which can actually change how we move, look and feel! We all know that person who is happy, confident, loves life and looks great right? So find something you’ve always wanted to do and just start doing it!! You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to start loving your life!! We’ve got 1 lovely lady who is going to learn Italian, another who is going to take up photography, we have a half marathon in the pipeline and my personal goal is to get back into drawing!! Do something for yourself!! Everyday we trade a day of our lives to do what we are doing! How will you spend today?

Anti-inflammitory Turmeric Smoothie

Good afternoon! I’m on a roll this week, I feel I’ve got so much I need to share with you all!

This morning I made this utterly delicious smoothie which will delight your taste buds and also sooth your cells!

turmeric

It’s super simple and soooo tasty! Turmeric is amazing and has been linked to the very low cancer rates in parts of Japan and India, It is an anti-inflammitory and tastes lovely! It’s bright orange colour tells you your in for some serious goodness!

I’ve added in some romaine lettuce, to get our greens in and to alkalise our systems, lemon, to cleanse and alkalise, raw honey (I’ve got a post-seminar detox cough, honey helps the turmeric stick to the throat) black pepper, this helps to absorb the properties from the turmeric and water to mix, plus some frozen mango, 1 banana and 1/4 avocado for it’s good fat and vital nutrients!

turmeric

Simply blend…

6-8 romaine leaves
frozen mango – about 1/3 mango
2 turmeric root pieces
300 ml water
dash of course black pepper
1 banana
1/4 avocado

and take a deep breathe, smile and enjoy!xx

Dare to Breathe – breathing challenge – Week 1 – 30 breaths

Hello Lovely People!

I’m really excited about this challenge…I started it last week and just had to share it with you all and what better day to start than a Monday?

so, let’s get started….

I love lent, and decided to give up shallow breathing… yep, shallow breathing!

A few years ago I went to work abroad and in the two weeks working away I got results in my body I’d never had! I felt incredible, I dropped about 5 lbs that have always bugged me and I felt strong, lean, happy light and my skin glowed. When I got home I tried to keep hold of these results, but it didn’t stick. But I didn’t know quite what had made the difference. I’d started meditating and started up yoga, but continued these when I returned, but I didn’t have that sparkle I had when I was away and I’ve been trying to find it ever since!

Funnily enough, when we go on holiday, the same happens, I get that light feeling…What could it be?

Breathing! Yes, simple old breathing!

When I’m at home, although I meditate and practice deep breaths in my meditation time, I’ve found myself literally holding my breath. I’ve noticed it when I have too many jobs on my to do list or when I’m rushing out of the house to get to work.

So, I’m taking part in a 12 week breathing program and I thought you’d like to try it?

In the next few blog posts I’ll explain more about breathing and why it works, but this week simply, all I request is that you breathe 10 long deep belly breaths 3 times a day, thats it!

You can do them all in one go in the morning and any extra is a bonus, but that’s it for this week! Next week I’ll give you task number 2!

So go on, take a deep breath, exhale, do this 9 more times and you’re there!

Ohhh…I’m excited!

In one week I’ve noticed a dramatic change in my stomach, people have asked if I’ve lost weight, I feel even more energetic and my skin looks better! Plus I’ve noticed my thoughts are even more positive! Result!

Please let me know how you get on and I can’t wait to hear all your results!

Breathe deeply!

Aimie xx
