Mark Penny Testimonial

I received a lovely testimonial from such a wonderful man I used to train in Sydney and just had to post it. Mark is an incredible doctor in Sydney and he was such a pleasure to work with and in the 2 years I had the pleasure of training him he achieved amazing things with his body! I was so impressed by how far he came!

I am very lucky, over the past 17 years as a trainer, to have found the best mentors and had access to some of the best courses in the world, that I am able to work with each individual to achieve their goals while working with injuries, pain, health issues etc. When I first qualified as a trainer when I was 19, I very quickly realised how complex each person is and how we all have such varying medical histories, so I have dedicated the past 17 years to continually learning more to help the amazing people I get to train. I was lucky enough to use this knowledge to create really challenging programs for Mark that were safe, vary varied, fun and enjoyable.

“I am a 58-year-old physician with a number of grumbling mild musculoskeletal problems: nothing that ever stopped me training and getting fit, just needing good supervision and motivation. Being medical, I am often very sceptical of the credentials and experience of many personal trainers. In other words, whether they have the skills and experience to train people effectively and safely. I had no doubts regarding Aimie’s abilities.

Aimie trained me for over two years across two gyms for three one-on-one sessions per week (well, most weeks). I have never been so fit, and it was the first time I had been down to an ideal body weight since my 20s (I was also on a sensible diet).

She is very experienced and versatile in how she structures her sessions. She has an excellent understanding of how to tailor individual programmes which also made sense from a biomechanical and physiological perspective – ie. my BS detector never went off. The programmes were not repetitive and she integrated many different styles and techniques in her training to keep sessions interesting and challenging.

Aimie has a lovely personality. She is scrupulously honest. She is a very sensible and gentle motivator: never pushing too far or not far enough for my abilities (or previous injuries). I should by saying I hate exercise but looked forwards to my sessions.

My son is an Exercise Physiologist who also trained with Aimie in one of the gyms in which she worked. He also spoke very highly of her professional and interpersonal skills.

I should add that one of the most experienced and respected personal trainers in Sydney (specialising in middle-aged and older clients), whom I know personally, suffered an injury that took her out of work for a few months and she asked Aimie to train her back to fitness.

I could not recommend Aimie highly enough and was very sad to lose her back to the UK. Should she return to Sydney I’ll be back on her books immediately.

I wish her well in her career back home.

Lewis’s Testimonial

I had the pleasure of training Lewis in Sydney after major ankle surgery, we worked on foot mechanics to help him to squat, skateboard and run again. Here is what he had to say about our sessions,

“Coming back to the gym after a long time off due to major injury, Aimie has helped me more than any physiotherapist or trainer I’ve encountered in my life. When a specific weakness or mobility issue is brought up, she always has a movement ready to address it. Able to work with all kinds of people regardless of fitness level or disability, she is a charming, energetic repository of knowledge. Would recommend Aimie 100% to anyone aiming to rehabilitate an injury or improve bodily function.”

Andrew Body Code Testimonial

I’ve been working with Aimie now as my Body Code Coach for about 30 sessions. I have seen significant changes in many areas of my life. I feel like a very different person to who I was before this.
I’ve been lugging around emotions and patterns for many years, and through her work as a coach, she has very gently helped me let these go. For me, this has led to:-

* an improved relationship with my wife. Little things that used to nag me, just don’t anymore (this is huge for me)
* more money. We did a lot of work on blocks I have had in my business. There was one month in there that after a session with Aimie, we sent on to have a record month. We usually make about $130k per month and in this month we did $270k so more than doubled.

I feel more at peace, and she is now working with my wife and seeing amazing results with her as well.

Thank you so much Aimie. What you do is truly remarkable and I really hope people get to experience you. I propose you get a 10 pack of coaching calls and work with her for a longer period to really reap the rewards. I highly recommend this work.

Squash the N.A.Ts and chase the butterflies

chase the butterflies

Ok, this might sound a bit harsh on the poor old Nat’s, but I promise no animals were harmed in the writing of this post, so hear me out…

NATs or ‘Negative Automatic Thoughts’ are straight up a pain in the peachy, perky, rock hard bum. It’s that little internal chatterbox nattering away saying, “I can’t do this” or “It’s too hard” or “Why does this always happen to me?” they are irritating, keep flying around our heads and make it hard to see past them. To see what we are actually made of, to see our true potential and inner awesomeness… they are a distraction and worth kicking to the curb!

So I have a suggestion for you, every time a limiting thought enters your mind, imagine that this thought is not actually your own opinion or actually anything to do with you (we are not our thoughts and we are not our mistakes), but an actual NAT, and you are simply going to squish it between your fingers and watch the dust fall to the ground into nothing-ness.

Once all those little NATs have been cleaned away you can start to notice the butterflies, the inspiring thoughts, the thoughts that bring you to life, the thoughts that anything could happen, then chase these, follow them, skip along with them, climb over gates and run through meadows to see where they go…See what could happen by chasing these awesome butterfly thoughts.

It’s a bit like worrying, but worrying about how successful you could be, how freakin’ amazing your life could be, what a difference you could make in the world and what you could really achieve!

For example…. Turn “I’m too big and unfit, I always let myself down” into “I’ve started to walk 10,000 steps every day and I feel better…. I could run a 5k eventually, I could even run and walk a 10k, that would be great exercise…. I might join a new class… Check me out in my new gym kit looking all slim and happy! Hey Gorgeous, looking good! I could join a running group and make new friends… I might even meet someone who could help me further my career or inspire me to start things I’d never even though of, who knows… I might get sponsored by Nike, then they will want me to model for them, I’d get all the free kit I could ever dream of… They would want me in their adverts and fly me all over the world… I could create my own brand…”

You get the idea… daydream about all the possibilties out there. You only have to look around you to see dreams do come true! Look at 1 Direction, a bunch of boys who they shoved together as a last thought on x-factor have literally taken over the world. Look at the people who inspire you, they all have a story… you get to decide what yours will be!

What do you want? Decide. Decision is the ultimate power! Go and chase it!

Everything starts as a thought and as you open your mind up to more amazing options you will start to see amazing things happen!

Let me know what you chase! I’d love to hear from you!

“The more you do… the more you can do”

Hello!!! Happy Monday all! I hope you are all well!

I just had to share a little story about a wonderful lady I train, Julie, she is an amazing woman, with an amazing daughter and beautiful grandchildren! Julie always inspires me with her amazing attitude, never ending kindness and the love she has for her family!

Julie is also very determined and when she sets her sights on a goal nothing gets in her way…

Last week Julie text me to say she couldn’t get to training this week as she looks after her grandchildren in the day, so could she have another session that week (rather than missing a week or catching up at some time, she wanted to get it in!)… well, I was very impressed and I told her so on her second session that week and she said how much she was enjoying training and her green smoothies, she’s looking fantastic, but feels so much better and the best thing is that she enjoys it!

She then said, ‘the more you do, the more you can do!’ So simple, but so true and I thought this advise might just help anyone reading this. It’s not about trying to do everything a once, but adding in better things along the way. For example, as you move more the more you are able to move with ease, the more weights you lift the more weight you can lift, the more green smoothies you make the quicker and more efficient you become, the longer you prepare healthy meals for (weeks, into months, into years) it just becomes habit and we become more efficient, it seems like it becomes easier and just part of our lives.

With many of my client’s you find very quickly that the things they found really tough in the beginning end up being more of a warm up after a few weeks, goals we’ve worked on end becoming easy and we strive for new challenges. Things we had to get ourselves physically or mentally prepared for become easy and effortless!

So, if you have a goal, just start, the longer you keep pursuing that goal the closer you will get and as Julie says, ‘the more you do, the more you can do!

Go Julie!xx

30 day yoga challenge

IMG_3808

As some of you will know I love yoga, I might not be the best at it and have been known to fall out of my headstands giggling, but it’s super fun to learn new things and we only fall down to pick ourselves back up. I started up again 3 years ago because I wanted to try something new and learn how to do cool tricks – I wanted a new challenge!

I had actually started doing yoga when I was 15 and I’d been begging my dad for a gym membership for my 16th birthday in my plan to become Angelina Jolie after watching gone in 60 seconds, I wanted to lose weight and be a bad ass! Up until that point I’d always quit everything I’d started, violin, guitar, basket ball, judo (1 lesson) so he set me a challenge, to lose 1 stone, then I could have a gym membership as my birthday present. I was 15, a size 18 and had no idea how to lose weight, I asked the doctor who said to go running…no chance! So I bought myself a yoga video (yes, video, it was 14 years ago) and I just started doing the 10 minute warm up every day, within a few weeks I’d changed, I looked taller, slimmer, I felt wonderful and I was well on my way to getting that gym membership!

That 10 minutes daily changed my life and I’d like to challenge you to see if just 10 minutes a day could change your life too!

I will post 3 little yoga video’s for you to try at home and see what happens if you just do one of these a day…

Mango and Avo Salad

Hello beautiful people!!
